a photographic essay in two fragments.
from the idea to have it exhibited at an abandoned
drugstore in one socially unbalanced quarter (kiez)
of east berlin till the opening it took incredible
20 days.
timing was the limit as well as that there was no budget,
as the defined space, as the given size and number
of frames available.
the split of space into one large frontroom with big
shop windows and a small sparsely daylit backroom
brought up the decision to cover two themes.
so we had two fragments:
fragments because of the limits,
and two because of the opportunities.
fragment 1, organised in a number of tryptix,
is vom deutschen wald (on german woods).
it emanates from a longterm project which shall
display german befindlichkeit in a series of
large format prints.

fragment 2 erupted spontaneously by the fact that
the dog is an unavoidable companion of a mainstream person
in the given milieu.
before you get the man, his dog gets you.
penner (bums) shows a socialisation to the contrary of men and dogs in a big city. in naples, no one cares.
